Mercantile / Hospitality Architecture: Skinsmart Retail Area
When Dr. Callahan, a noted dermatologist, wanted to combine her sophisticated skin care clinic with a retail area to merchandise products, she turned to Schimberg Group. Using Dr. Callahan’s established logo and color palette, Schimberg Group created a fashionable yet functional space.
The interior is stimulating and upbeat to promote retail sales yet serene enough to feel welcoming for clients. A vinyl cork floor was selected for its contemporary feel, but offers more warmth and comfort than a traditional medical office. The lobby ceiling reinforces Dr. Callahan’s brand with a swooping arch using Armstrong’s Axiom trim, emulating the company’s logo in an abstract way. The waiting room incorporates 3-Form Gingko panels in curvilinear forms along an extended wall to break up the space and provide a unique, calming element for anxious or restless patients. The colors of the Skinsmart brand are used throughout the clinic and retail areas, and the retail space integrates necessary functionality for sales with soft, curved soffits and LED lighting.
